Legend has it that the castle was built on a rock that was home to a family of bears, giving the castle its name meaning "the rock of the bear". Ready to go?

This granite castle is one of the oldest in Alsace, know as early as the beginning of the XIth century.

The castle has an 18 m high keep, a hexagonal lords’ dwelling with loopholes and semi-circular windows  and a square tower used to contain the castle chapel.
