Nestles at the foot of Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. The quality of its wines was mentioned in 742 by the Merovingian Royal Domain. Many famous historical figures owned vineyards in Rorschwihr (Pepin-Ie-Bref, Louis the Pious... as well as many Popes, dioceses, abbeys... ). 12 individual vineyards were recognised as early as 13th C. for their ability to truly reflect the terroir on which the grapes were grown. 19th C. church on medieval belfry-nave foundations.
